The Back, Neck and Other Joint Pains Research Group was founded in October 2008, with a 1 million baht grant from Khon Kaen University. The members of this research group consist of the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, the Faculty of Medical Science, and the Faculty of Health Science, all of which have the common interest in joint pains, particularly back and neck pains. These are problems most often found in working populations worldwide, especially Asia, where the majority of the population are farmers. In Thailand, a 74% rise of patients with joint pains has been reported. This problem is even more serious when accompanied with nerve conditions. Joint pains can be difficult to treat and require high medical cost. Therefore, the best way to reduce the damage is to let patients know how to take care of themselves appropriately before it becomes more serious.
A research group to produce research useful for the prevention and reduction of back, neck and other joint pains; to study the way to slow the development of pains in order to maintain healthy and minimize the cost of treatment, which is based on imported medicine and equipment that can cause trade deficits
To strengthen the research group to find ways to alleviate back, neck and other joint pains; to produce new researchers with high research capability; to upgrade the facilities to a specific research centre in the future in order to produce quality research which can be beneficial to the community and the country

  • To find more fund to support for research conduction and establish networks for knowledge and experience sharing between experts both in Thailand and in other countries
  • To reduce risks and find ways to prevent, diagnose and treat joint pains in various groups of patients ranging from children to the elderly
