Khon Kaen University has always taken an important role to participate in developing personnel and resources of the GMS countries, especially the neighboring countries. Human resource development is the heart of all aspects of national development. Collaboration among academic institutions of the countries in ASEAN Community is vital and a necessity in response to he role of ASEAN Community in the world society and augmentation of the potentiality of our regional human resources. This is especially true in academic and research work, which Khon Kaen University has continuously encompassed in its major mission towards the GMS countries human resource development.

The joint TICA-TRF-French Embassy in Bangkok scholarship for doctoral studies: This joint scholarship programme for doctoral students is a collaboration between France and Thailand. This joint programme aims at supporting interested students from CLMV countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam) (up to five scholarships per year) to pursue their doctoral studies in Thailand and France, with the opportunity to do research with Thai and French advisors of academic excellence in fields beneficial to the development process of their countries. The joint TICA – TRF – Sida – ISP scholarship for doctoral studies:
Started in 2015, this scholarship programme aims to support up to three scholarships per year to students from Bangladesh, Nepal, and CLMV countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam) to pursue their doctoral studies in Thailand and Sweden, with the opportunity to do research with Thai and Swedish advisors with academic excellence in the scientific fields of Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Financial support is jointly provided by the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), The Thailand Research Fund (TRF) (under the Royal Golden Jubilee Ph.D. Programme), and the International Science Programme (ISP) at Uppsala University, Sweden.
